Strawberry Banana Green Smoothie Recipe

Strawberry Banana Green Smoothie

Since discovering the brave new world of green smoothies, I feel like I’ve finally found a way to get all my nutritional needs fulfilled without having to chomp down on a bowl of raw veggies all day! I am a big  fan of fruit, but not so much of the vegetables, so I have come up with a Strawberry Banana Green Smoothie Recipe that is sure to pack you full of vitamins and sweet fruity goodness! In addition to all the yummy fruit, I decided to sneak in some spinach to really boost the nutritional value. Plus, with all the strawberries, bananas and blueberries in there, you won’t  even taste the greens. I hope you enjoy!

The reason I added the Spinach, is because it is high in niacin and zinc, as well as protein, fiber, vitamins A, C, E and K, thiamin, vitamin B6, folate, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, copper, and manganese.  So as you can see, that little bit of green in your smoothie goes a long way!

Mmm…. Strawberries and Bananas!

Surely, we cannot underrate the health benefits associated with bananas, strawberries, and blueberries. Bananas, for instance, are rich in iron and vitamin K and offer healthy amounts of potassium; which is a very useful for preventing cramps and dehydration. Potassium plays a key role in muscle contraction and relaxation. This smoothie offers numerous health benefits ranging from antioxidants obtained from the oranges and strawberries that are rich in vitamin C to anthocyanin that the blueberries provide.

This Strawberry Banana Green Smoothie Recipe is sweet and bright; it is by far my favorite that I have created thus far. I’m always tempted to make a little extra and save some for a late night snack!

  • 1 orange, seeded and peeled
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup strawberries
  • 1 cup fresh spinach
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 cup water

  1. To ensure that the ingredients are blended completely, add them one at a time. I like to start with orange juice, spinach, and then water.
  2. Blend until smooth, then follow with the rest of the ingredients.
  3. On extra hot days I like to freeze the fruit first before blending them into my smoothie.
  4. Blend to desired consistency and enjoy!

Sometimes when I make a little extra, I  put the remainder in the refrigerator in an air-tight container for up to 2 days.  Adding a little bit of lemon to the smoothie does wonders for preserving it! Usually I like playing around with my ingredients and sometimes raspberries or blackberries will find their way into the Strawberry Banana Green Smoothie too, it all just depends on what sounds good to you.  I hope you enjoy my Strawberry Banana Green Smoothie Recipe!
