Simply Sweet Green Smoothie
Dates are the candy of the natural world: sweet, satisfying, and sticky. These sweet nuggets are the perfect star ingredient for someone who has a sweet-tooth in the morning (or all day long) without racking up empty calories or consuming refined sweets. In addition to many vitamins and countless nutrients, dates contain selenium, an organic nutrient shown to fight heart disease and build bone strength. It’s almost like your childhood dream of “having candy that’s good for you” has come true! Dates are also a great thickening agent for those of us who enjoy a thicker, more hearty smoothie.
This smoothie blends our new best friend, medjool dates, with bananas, almond milk, and surprise guest, blueberries, for an all-star smoothie. This drink, that could really double as a milkshake with consistency and flavor is sure to be your new favorite. Blueberries, another big star in this drink, though small, pack huge health and nutrient benefits. Collagen, our skin’s go-to guy for maintenance and longevity, relies on vitamin C that works as an antioxidant to prevent skin damage and aid in long-lasting, healthy and glowing skin.
Last but not least, the best part of this smoothie (if you’re a minimalist like me) is that it is only 4 ingredients (shortest shopping list ever)! There are always optional add-ins, of course, but it’s comforting knowing that you can be sipping on a health-inspired “milkshake” with the blending of 4 ingredients you may already have in your kitchen.

- 5 medjool Dates (pitted)
- 1 large banana
- 1/2 cup blueberries (frozen or fresh)
- 1/2-1 cup of unsweetened almond milk (depends on desired thickness)
- Optional: 1 Tbsp flax seed, hemp seed, or nut butter (almond, peanut); sprinkle of cinnamon

2.) Blend ingredients on high speed until desired thickness (this is where almond milk adjustments come in)
