Green Smoothie With Cranberries
Cranberries are generally associated with Thanksgiving dinner, not a green smoothie. However, cranberries can provide your Green Smoothie with a refreshing, tart flavor, as well as a whole host of nutritional benefits. Because cranberries can be quite tart, it’s generally recommended that you start by adding ½ a cup to your green smoothie and then adding more to taste.
In terms of nutrition, when you add cranberries to your green smoothie, you will be providing your body with an excellent source of fiber, Vitamins A and C, magnesium, Vitamin K, calcium, iron, and potassium. Medical research has proven that the regular consumption of cranberries can improve your overall cardiovascular health, improve your immune system, protect your body against certain types of cancer. With all of these health benefits, why would you not want to add cranberries to your green smoothie?
1/2 cup cranberries
2 cups fresh organic baby spinach (or other leafy green)
1 stalk of organic celery
3 madjool dates to sweeten
4 to 6 ounces filtered water
Add each of these ingredients to your blender one at a time and blend them together thoroughly. If you find that your green smoothie is too tart, you can add a natural sweetener, like stevia, to lessen the tart flavor.
