Green Smoothie Recipes With Celery

Green Smoothie RecipesIn my personal opinion, celery is one of the most underappreciated ingredients when it comes to making green smoothie recipes. Because celery is mostly water based, it does not have much of a flavor, but it can be a great method of taming a smoothie that is too sweet. Moreover, it has a ton of nutritional benefits to offer.

The Health Benefits of Celery In Green Smoothie Recipes

Recent medical studies have suggested that celery contains anti inflammatory properties, which could potentially alleviate the effects of asthma and rheumatoid arthritis. Celery is also an excellent source of dietary fiber.

When it comes to vitamins and minerals, celery will offer your body a great source of Vitamin A and Vitamin K. One stalk of celery will have approximately 20% of your RDA of Vitamin K. Celery also contains a small amount of calcium, as well as a natural source of sodium.

How to Use Celery In Your Green Smoothie Recipes

Although celery has a mild flavor, it can quickly overwhelm your green smoothie recipes if you use to much of it. Trust me. I learned this the hard way. When I’m making a batch of green smoothies, I will usually only add 1-2 large stalks of celery. I prefer to use sweet fruit, like pineapples, when I’m making a green smoothie with celery. On the other hand, if like for your green smoothies to have a tart flavor, by all means, go ahead and use green apples as your fruit of choice.

Even though celery tends to have tough, fibrous stands, a high quality, high speed blender won’t have any problem liquefying it. When you add celery to your green smoothie recipes, go ahead and use both the stalks and the leaves.

Green Smoothie Recipes With Celery

  • 1 small banana, peeled
  • 2 medium stalk of celery, chopped
  • 1 head of baby spinach
  • 2 ounces of filtered water
  • ½ of a pineapple with the rind removed

Each of these ingredients should be added to your blender one at a time and blended together until smooth. If you do not like the taste of pineapple, then red grapes are another great, sweet fruit that you can use.

A single cup of this green smoothie is going to provide your body with its RDA of Vitamin A and Vitamin C. It will make a delicious and nutritious addition to your diet at any time of the day.
